GOSHEN — Gage Egner was second and Savannah Rhodes third for their respective Blanchester cross countryteams Tuesday at the Goshen Invitational.
BHS coach Tony Blevins said even though the times may not reflect a true 3.1-mile course, his squads were hitting on all cylinders.
“I think the course was a little short but we really ran well,” he said.
Egner was second in the boys race as the Wildcats finished as runnersup behind Cincinnati Country Day, 45 to 63. Blanchester defeated Felicity and Bethel-Tate, both members of the Southern Buckeye Conference.
David Trivett was eighth while Timmy McIntyre was 15th. Matt Reinhart ran his best race of the year, Blevins said, and placed 16th. Christian Woodyard was 22nd and was followed by Brandon Hall 25th, Eric Patton, Ashton Steward, Chris Furber, Dakota Manor, Sam Reinhart, Tristan Brenner, Bill Rannells and Timmy Rannells.
On the girls side, Rhodes led the way with a third-place finish. Carly Franco has improved after a late start to the season, Blevins said, and placed 12th overall. Hope Florea was 31st and Racheal Gadzinski 35th.

Girls: We only had three girls running with so many of our girl runners playing soccer. Freshman Savannah Rhodes continues to run well she placed fourth with a time of 22:04. I thought it was her best race of the season. It rained a little during the girl’s race and the wind picked up, but she still managed to run her personal best. Hope was 49th with a time of 30:19, and Denise Jungstrom was 50th with a time of 30:20
Boys: The boys place 6th out of 14 teams and were led by Gage Egner’s 4th place finish with a time of 18:23. I think Gage will dip under 18 minutes pretty soon he is really running strong. We had too big of a gap between Gage and the rest of our pack at over two minutes. David Trivett was 30th with a time of20:35 and Timmy McIntyre was 34th with a time of 20:50, rounding out the top seven were Daniel Peters 44th 21:38, Matt Reinhart 45th 21:39, Brandon Hall 47th 21:39, Christian Woodyard 50th 21:51

8.23.14 Saturday - Cross Country
The Blanchester girls cross country team edged Wilmington for the top Clinton County finish Saturday at the Finishtiming.com meet at Wilmington College. The Lady Wildcats had 229 points while Wilmington had 238 points. Savannah Rhodes of Blanchester was the top individual runner among county athletes, placing 23rd in 22:05.68. “This is probably the toughest meet we run competition-wise with schools like Mason and Lakota West,” said BHScoach Tony Blevins. “I thought the girls ran well as a team.” Varsity girls race Team scores 1, Mason 23; 2, Lakota West 63; New Richmond 105; 4, Unioto 149; Washington Senior 158; 6, Anderson 182; 7, Bethel-Tate 200; Georgetown 220; 9, Blanchester 229; 10, Wilmington 238; 11, Western Brown 287; 12, Clinton-Massie 296; 13, Hillsboro 301 23, Savannah Rhodes, BL, 22:05.68 59, McKenzie Hamm, BL, 24:03.27 73, Kayla Naus, BL, 24:27.49 106, Emma Gundler, BL, 25:25.05 161, Sierra Drake, BL, 28:17.4 165, McKenzie Miller, BL, 28:31.94 199, Hope Florea, BL, 31:00.59 The Blanchester boys cross country team, led by Gage Egner, had the top finish among county schools Saturday at the Finishtiming.com meet at Wilmington College. Egner was 48th in the boys race, clocking an 18:43.21, and helped lead the Wildcats to a 13th place finish among 22 complete teams. “For the boys it is definitely the toughest completion we face, with traditional Division I powers like Elder and LaSalle,” said BHS coach Tony Blevins. “The boy’s race was huge with 395 runners finishing the race.
