Holcomb earns first in discus on 1st day of SBAAC meet
5/12/14
Lizzy Holcomb had a personal best effort in the discus Tuesday and won the Southern Buckeye Conference championship at the league meet held at Barbour Memorial Field.
Overall, the Blanchester boys and girls track and field teams had strong performances on the first day of the SBC meet.
The girls 4x800-meter relay team ran a personal best of 10:58, dropping 31 seconds off their best time, coachTony Blevins said. Team members are Brooke Gibbons, Kayla Nause, Ana Hosler and McKenzie Hamm.
The boys 4x800-meter relay team of Gage Egner, Chris Mackzum, Dylan Miller and Devin Wells ran a PR of 8:48.
Dakota Gambrell had solid performances in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes, Blevins said.
Hurdlers Allen Smith in the 110-meter highs and Colins Blevins in the 300-meter intermediates had the fastest times in the preliminary heats.
“We put ourselves in good positions to do as well as we can (on Wednesday),” Blevins said. “The boys have a very good chance to challenge for the league title. The boys should be in a three-team race between Williamsburg, Georgetown and Blanchester. On the girls end, Williamsburg looks to have just too much depth for the rest of the league, but again the girls have put themselves in a position to do as well as wel can.”

Wildcat High School Track places 3rd at Reading
4/25/14
We competed in the Reading Invitational Friday night. It was a good night with both teams placing third in the meet. I was really proud of the girls 4 x 800 it was the first time we had ran it this year lacking a little depth in distance we have to pick & choose when were run the 4 x 800, and to run 11:40 was very respectable I think they can drop their time dramatically by the league meet. The same group is getting better & better in the 4 x 400 too.

The Blanchester girls track and field team finished fifth Tuesday at the Western Brown Invitational.

Mackenzie Hamm had the top finish, placing second in the 800-meter run in 2:44.06. She also ran on three top-five relays.
“She continues to drop her time in the 800,” Blevins said.
