9/11/19 - High school cross country @ Georgetown
The Blanchester High School cross country team competed in their fourth meet Wednesday, September 11th at the annual Georgetown Invitational. The team still has only 4 participants, due to injuries or sharing the season with another sport. Brett Bandow ran his best time of the season and medaled, coming in 14th out of 64 runners with a time of 21:03. Nick Musselman, come in shortly after in 22nd with a time of 21:34, also a slight improvement and best time of the season so far. They were followed by Joey Haines in 37th at 23:39 For our solo female runner, Kenzie Kratzer she finished 28th out of 37 runners with a time of 34:15, showing consistency in her running time, despite an ongoing ankle injury. The weather was extremely hot, with a high heat index, but the course had several water stations along the way. Fortunately, the course is heavily wooded and provided a lot of shade, but it still did not provide complete relief in those high temperatures. Even despite the weather, the majority of the runners improved their times and they all pushed through and finished strong. I cannot say enough how proud I am of these athletes. This is a difficult sport, that does not always receive a lot of recognition, and our team really showed a lot of heart in this meet. -Coach Estrada
