Notes: Lydia rallied from 1-4 down in the third to win.
Comments: It's been a tough year for us. But the one thing that has not changed is the level of effort. My girls have worked hard everyday, with a great attitude, win or lose. So I am so happy that we got this win. Like I said last time when we played Felicity: Tennis is a meritocracy. This time, we earned the win. So proud of those singles girls who have battled all year long and led us to victory. They showed a lot of guts.
Credit to Felicity as well, as they are still missing their outstanding first singles players. Their girls have stepped up and carried the team in her absence. We found a way to get by them. -Coach Sexton

Comments: There really is a fine line between winning and losing. We lost to an undefeated team but had a chance to win. Lexie isn't 100 percent by any stretch, but she gutted it out. We had a tough break at the end of the first set tiebreaker, but she battled on. Elecia and Annie played a very good match. I was also glad to see Maddy and Madie battle back from a set down to pick up a nice win.

Comments: The beautiful thing about individual sports is that they are a meritocracy. Felicity deserved this win because they went out and earned it. We just don't have the experience of winning big matches yet with this group. That's a skill we've yet to earn, but we're working on it.
I was really pleased with how well Maddy and Taylor played at second doubles. They were on and off in less than 30 minutes. Lexie also played very well at third singles. -Coach Sexton

As I will say a lot this year, we're learning on the job this season. I was proud of the effort. Especially proud of Lydia, who took a nasty fall a game into the match. I didn't think she'd be able to continue, so it was a very gutsy effort on one leg for the rest of the match. Give Paige Harrell credit though. It's not easy playing against someone who is compromised and keeping your focus, and she did well.
Elecia continues improving each match, as do Maddy and Madie. We'll keep working to find the right combinations to get things going, and keep working to get better. -Coach Sexton

Comments: Considering our lack of experience, I am really pleased with how well we played. Kayla played the defending SBC National Division player of the year and played well. Lydia got a much-needed confidence boost and really finished the match strong. Elicia is getting better with each match. She's really going to be tough as the season goes on.
First doubles was a wild match with big swings each way. I thought we competed well but our lack of experience got to us. The Maddy/Madie combination played another strong match and continues to improve each time out.
We've got five girls with little to no varsity playing time, and we hung with a team that has a 5-0 win over Felicity under its belts. I feel very good about how we're progressing. We just need experience at this point. - Coach Sexton
