10/4/18 - Girls Soccer HOME vs. Fayetteville
The Blanchester Ladycats were firing on all cylinders on route to a 7-0 victory over Fayetteville on Thursday night. Playing in front of a large crowd for youth night, Emily Hinkle put on a clinic for the young players in attendance by notching her second 4 goal game of the week, putting her wide range of attacking skills on display. The Cats put up 5 first half goals, and Hinkle had a hand in all of them in a dominant effort. Hinkle’s first came 2 minutes into the game on a left footed curler from the top of the box off a drop pass from Emma Winemiller. Five minutes later Hinkle sent a through ball to a racing Bri Wilson who hit a savy first time shot on the ground to the back corner for her 3rd of the year. Blan held solid possession throughout the half, and Hinkle got her 2nd of the game with 17 minutes remaining in the half, hitting another back pass to the top of the box, this time from Savanna Shank as she opted to blast it hard across the ground to the back corner this time around. She was back at it again 6 minutes later finishing another passing combination from Shank to get her first half hat trick. Hinkle put the game away for good with one more in the last minute of the half, using a slick cut back before hitting a strike to the top post, assisted by Kelsey Naylor. Little changed in the second half, as regardless of the lineup on the field, Blan kept a high rate of possession. Defender Bri Haun hit a wonderstrike for the first goal of the second half, sending a rocket 40 yards from a free kick at midfield that found the upper right corner of the net. Lana Roy rounded out the scoring, taking a through ball from Shank and beating the onrushing keeper for the goal. Regan Ostermeier had 3 saves in goal for her 21st career shutout. Hinkle’s night gives her 18 goals and 11 assists on the season, both personal career highs. Blan moves to 6-6-2 on the year, and take on Williamsburg next Thursday, which is the last home game of the season and Senior Night. -Coach K Ballinger
