3/7, 3/8, 3/9 - STATE Wrestling
Senior Clayton Schirmer and Junior James Peters finished their amazing seasons in Columbus at the State Tournament.
James won his first match. He then lost to the wrestler who later finished 3rd and one who finished 7th place. James completes his season with 47 wins and only 5 loses.
Clayton finished his excellent career by placing 8th overall. Clayton set the school record for wins in a season (52) and pins in a season (37) , he is third overall in career wins with 149.

3/1 &3/2/19 - Wrestling at Troy Hobart Arena for Districts
Battling through the consolation rounds, two Wildcats earned a trip to Columbus on Thursday.
After losing a close match in the quarter finals, Clayton Schirmer reeled off 4 straight pins and placed 3rd.
Fighting illness on Friday James Peters lost a close match in his quarterfinals which put him into the consolation rounds. After two matches ending with a Peters pin, James had a rematch with the returning district champion who had beaten James earlier in the year at the Lima Central Catholic Invitational. With the score tied 1-1 in the third period, and time running out, James scored a takedown on an impressive double leg attack to qualify for the State tournament!

The Wildcats competed in the State dual meet tournament for the third time in the seven years it has been held. The team wrestled well, but didn't have enough to beat a very talented team from Rootstown. Team lost in the opening round 45-25.

Leaving no doubt, the Wildcats dominated Bethel Tate in the CHAMPIONSHIP finals to win the Region 23 title and qualify to the STATE dual meet at the Ohio State University Feb 10th. The Wildcats won 11 of the 13 head to head matches, 8 of those by pin, and won 58-15.
The Wildcats will travel to Columbus on Feb 10 to compete against the following teams.

The Blanchester High School wrestling team overpowered a pair of squads Thursday night in non-league action at Madeira High School.
The Wildcats defeated the host Mustangs 73-9 and blanked visiting Waynesville 78-0. The 78-0 win is a school record, for largest margin of victory.
