In Division V, Blanchester’s James Peters (5-10, 215, Soph.) was named to the first team defensive squad. He had 25 tackles for loss among his 50 total stops. Peters had 10 quarterback sacks for the Wildcats.
Ramiro Torres Jr. (5-10, 180, Jr.) was a second team on the defensive line. He had 17.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a blocked punt.
Blanchester’s Brayden Sipple (6-2, 170, Fr.), Matthew Grogg (6-0, 245, Jr.) and Brent Hopkins (5-7, 155, Jr.) were given honorable mention. Sipple held the reins at QB for the Wildcats from the outset and went 116-216 for 1,409 yards and 16 touchdowns. Grogg was the top lineman on a team that rushed for 1,703 yards and passed for 1,490 yards. Hopkins rushed for 707 yards and eight scores and caught 21 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns. He finished with 1,263 all-purpose yards and 12 scores.

The Blanchester Wildcats’ JV football team lost to East Clinton 14-0 Saturday.
East Clinton went up 12-0 in the first half on Blanchester. The Astros scored in the final quarter on a safety. Several Wildcats stepped up defensively in the second half. Blake Richard recorded a sack, caused fumble and a tackle for loss. Shane Garrett also notched a sack and recovered a fumble. Hunter Bare had a tackle-for- loss. The Blanchester Wildcats JV Football team defeated the visiting Cincinnati Hills
Christian Academy Saturday, 18-0.
On offense, the Wildcats scored on two exciting plays. The Wildcats’ first score came on a hook and lateral early in the second quarter. Colt Conover threw a 6-yard hitch route to Carter Abbott that turned into a 35-yard romp to the end zone when Abbott pitched the ball to Blake Richard. The Wildcats’ second offensive score came in the fourth quarter on a 51-yard run that featured several broken tackles and a whole lot of determination from the Wildcats’ quarterback.
The Wildcats’ defense played its strongest game of the season on Saturday. Lucas
Thacker put in a monster of a day, forcing two shanked punts, notching a tackle-for- loss and a sack, and adding a fumble recovery that he scooped up for a 70-yard touchdown. Austin Walker (2), Conover (2), Shane Garrett, Johnny Schirmer, Kadin Berwanger, Kyle Hopkins, Bryce Scalf and Trevor Chaney also notched tackles-for- loss on the afternoon. Logan Heitzman, Blake Richard and Carter Abbott had interceptions, and Abbot, Hopkins, Berwanger and Schirmer had key pass break-ups that kept CHCA out of the end zone. The Blanchester JV Football team lost 18-6 Saturday against a tough Mariemont team.
Blanchester found itself down 16-0 with less than two minutes gone in the first quarter. The Wildcats’ defense found its footing and held Mariemont scoreless the remainder of the game. Mariemont’s final score came on a safety late in the fourth quarter. Blanchester’s lone scoring strike came on a long pass from Brody Rice to Carter Abbot
in the third quarter.
The Wildcats’ defense showed a lot of fight despite giving up two early scores. Seth Randolph, Brady Phillips, Kaleb Goodin, Hunter Bare, Colt Conover, Austin Walker, Logan Heitzman and Lucas Thacker all contributed tackles for loss in the game. The young Wildcats struggled during the first half, and found themselves down 22-6 at halftime. The Wildcat defense showed up strong in the second half, allowing just one Hurricane score. The Wildcats’ offense found its rhythm as well, and added two touchdowns and a two-point conversion. However, the Wildcats fell just short of a victory 28-20.

Despite great effort on both sides of the ball, Blanchester could not overcome several costly
turnovers and penalties on the day.
Bryce Scalf was a standout on offense and defense. He accounted for both Wildcat
scores. In the first quarter, Scalf picked off a pass and rumbled 50 yards for a long pick-six. Scalf also had a 55-yard rushing touchdown on the day. He notched two fumble recoveries and several big hits defensively, as well.

Brody Rice connected with Carter Abbott for a 20 yard pass for the Wildcats’ lone score passing. Derick Bowman, Gabe Peters and Bryce Scalf each ran for two-point conversions. Brody Rice made two of three extra-point kicks.
