Blanchester JV Football Claims SBAAC Title The Blanchester JV Football team improved to 5-3 for the season, and claimed the SBAAC title with a big 53-20 win over the Bethel-Tate Tigers. The Wildcats led 28-6 at half, but found themselves in a tight game early in the third quarter when the Tigers bounced on two quick scores to make the game 20-28. Tanner Creager sparked a 25 point unanswered run for the Wildcats with an 85 yard kickoff return and a big interception return for a touchdown late in the third quarter, and the visiting Wildcats never looked back. The Wildcats had a very solid day offensively. Cody Henson rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns on the day. Clayton Schirmer threw for two touchdowns and rushed for a touchdown. Tanner Creager and Dale Sturgill were on the receiving end of Schirmer’s throws for a touchdown each. Jasper Damewood added five extra point kicks to the Wildcats’ scoring efforts. The Wildcats defense held Bethel-Tate to just 207 yards total offense and forced seven turnovers in the game. Tanner Creager had two interceptions, including a long pick-six. Spencer Dissell returned an interception for a touchdown. Andrew Frump and Clayton Schirmer each had interceptions on the day. Christian Stubbs had a big day defensively, recording five tackles, two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. The Blanchester JV football team improved its record to 4-3 with a huge 43-6 victory over the visiting Williamsburg Wildcats. For the third week in a row, the Blanchester Wildcats dominated their opponents in all three phases of the game. The Wildcats offense got started early, and kept rolling throughout the game. Cody Henson had a big day, scoring three rushing touchdowns. Junior Torres added another score on the ground with an explosive 50 yard touchdown run. Tanner Creager had another big day, throwing for a touchdown, and extending his two-point conversion scoring streak to seven games. Daniel Davenport hauled in his first receiving touchdown as a Wildcat. Jasper Damewood went 5/5 on extra point attempts. The Blanchester defense made it a long day for Williamsburg. The defense did not allow a first down until the third quarter, and did not allow a Williamsburg touchdown until late in the fourth quarter. The entire Blanchester defensive squad played well throughout the contest. Spencer Dissell scored on a pick six interception and a long return. Andrew Frump recovered a fumble that set up a Blanchester offensive scoring opportunity. Tackles for loss were a major theme for the Blanchester defense, as well. Junior Torres recorded two tackles for loss; while Kadin Berwanger, Seth Caldwell, Spencer Dissell, Chace Sicurella, and Lucas Thacker all added one tackle for loss each. -Coach Damewood 10/8/16 - JVFB vs. Batavia
The Blanchester JV Football team improved to 3-3 on the season with a big 48-6 win over the visiting Batavia Bulldogs. For the second week in a row, the Wildcats dominated all three phases of the football game, and it showed on the scoreboard. The Blanchester offense saw one of its most productive days since its week one opener. Junior Torres and Dale Sturgill notched two rushing touchdowns each on the day. Cody Henson and Clayton Schirmer added to the scoring with one rushing touchdown each. Tanner Creager scored on a 40-yard touchdown reception, and added his sixth 2-point conversion on the year. Jasper Damewood added four extra point kicks on the day. The Wildcats defense rose to the challenge again, allowing just one score for the Bulldog’s offensive attack. Justin Ballard had a monster day on the defensive side of the ball, recording a sack, two tackles for loss, and a caused fumble. Reighdyn Bare finished the day with two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. Lucas Thacker had a big day, with a caused fumble and a fumble recovery. The Blanchester JV Football team improved to 2-3 on the season Saturday, with a big 28-8 victory over the Glen Este Trojans. The Wildcats squad dominated all three phases of the game. On offense, the wildcats hit paydirt on the ground and through the air. Cody Henson capped off a day marked with strong runs with a punishing 35-yard touchdown run. Tanner Creager had yet another big day on the offensive side of the ball, hauling in two 45-yard receptions for a pair of touchdowns. He added to his efforts with his fifth consecutive game with a two-point conversion. Jasper Damewood hit two of three extra-point kicks on the day. The Wildcats defense played lights out, holding the Trojan offense scoreless until the fourth quarter. Shawn Snyder, Justin Ballard, Christian Stubbs, Chace Sicurella and Lucas Thacker all recorded a sack or tackle for loss on the day. Jesse Wright and Andrew Frump forced a pair of fumbles on the day. Dale Sturgill was an intimidating force in the secondary, with several big hits and a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown. 9/24/16 - JVFB vs. New Richmond
The Blanchester Wildcats JV Football team fell to 1-3 on Saturday in a hard-fought loss to the New Richmond Lions, 19-8. The Wildcats led the game 8-6 at half, but lost their hold on the game early in the third quarter on a long pass completion by New Richmond’s offense, and a scoop-and- score fumbled snap, taken to the house by the Lion’s defense. The 13-point swing proved too much for the Wildcat’s offense on the day. Clayton Schirmer scored the only touchdown on a long run that capped a nice Wildcat offensive series. Tanner Creager notched another two-point conversion, extending his streak to four games with a conversion this season. Cody Henson and Dale Sturgill both had solid days rushing for the Wildcats. Blanchester’s defense was active throughout the game. Chace Sicurella had a big day with two sacks and a tackle for loss. Justin Ballard also had two sacks and a tackle for loss, and broke up a pass on the day. Lucas Thacker stood out in the defensive secondary, with a tackle for loss and two deflected passes. -Coach Damewood 9/17/16 - JVFB vs. Goshen
The Blanchester Wildcats JV Football team fell to 1-2 Saturday in a hard-fought loss to the visiting Goshen Warriors, 25-14. Both teams scored all of their points in the first half, and then settled in for a tough defensive stand that allowed no scoring in the second half of play.Blanchester’s Clayton Schirmer threw for two touchdowns on the day. Derick Bowman and Tanner Creager both found the endzone on long touchdown receptions. Creager also rushed for a two-point conversion. The freshman trio of Hunter Bare, Christian Stubbs and Jesse Wright had solid performances on the defensive side of the ball. Each player recorded three solo tackles, and pressured Goshen’s quarterback throughout the game. -Coach Damewood 8/26 & 8/27 - Varsity Football
