10/11/16 - Boys soccer The Blanchester Wildcats hosted Fairfield-Leesburg Tuesday evening after coming off a disappointing tie against Williamsburg the night before. Unfortunately for the Wildcats their 3 goal lead didn't hold and they ended up with yet another tie, 3-3. Goals for the Wildcats were scored by Topher Farrow with a header, Nevan Coyle off a free kick, and senior defender Eli McEntire off a header for his first high school goal. Both headers were started by throw-ins from Brant Bandow. Keeper Dakota Penquite for Blanchester had 7 saves. The Wildcats will host Goshen Thursday night for their final regular season match before traveling to Western Brown to challenge the American Division champs in tournament play.
10/13/16 - Boys soccer vs. Goshen The Blanchester Wildcats were victorious Thursday evening in their final season match against the Goshen Warriors at Barbour Memorial Field. The Warriors struck first but after the Wildcats got into rhythm they were hard to stop. Topher Farrow scored two goals within two minutes to give Blanchester the lead as well as momentum. Goshen responded with another goal after the half but Blanchester dug in deep and Nevan Coyle found the back of the net one last time to give them the 3-2 win. Assists on the night went to Coyle, Noah Armocida, and Sam Schafer. In the goal for the Wildcats was Dakota Penquite with 16 saves. Seniors Eli McEntire, Cameron Crosley, Bryce Dickison, Sam Schafer, and Dakota Penquite were honored as well before the match. Blanchester wraps up the year with a 7-6-3 overall record and will travel to Western Brown for tournament play on Monday. -Coach Ballinger
10/10/16 - Boys soccer vs. Williamsburg The Blanchester Wildcats hosted the Williamsburg Wildcats Monday night at Barbour Memorial Field to wrap up divisional play. Neither team were able to net a single goal, leaving the match scoreless despite Blanchester's 35 shots. Keepers Dakota Penquite and Wesley Mitchell only had to make a couple saves each thanks to Blanchester's dominate defense. The Wildcats will next host Fairfield Leesburg Tuesday evening.
10/8/16 - Boys Soccer vs. Fayetteville The Blanchester Wildcats improve their season record to 6-6-1 after a back and forth match against the Fayetteville Rockets Saturday afternoon at home. The Rockets led 1-0 at halftime but the Wildcats managed to tie it up early in the second half with a patented Brant Bandow throw-in off the head of Topher Farrow. The momentum didn't carry over long however, Fayetteville netted a tremendous shot from inside the 18 yard box but from what seemed like a near impossible angle. The Wildcats didn't lose hope and maintained possession from then on out thanks to two more Bandow throw-in assists going to captains Dakota Penquite and Sam Schafer. Penquite played keeper for the first half with 6 saves while Lane Heeg wore the gloves during the second with 4 saves. Blanchester will wrap up the regular season with a busy week all at Barbour Memorial Field starting with Williamsburg Monday(make-up), Leesburg Tuesday, and ending with Goshen on Thursday. -Coach Ballinger
10/5/16 - Boys Soccer vs. Georgetown The Blanchester Wildcats suffered a crucial league loss Wednesday night to the Georgetown G-Men. Blanchester never quite looked as if they were in control and were constantly on the defense. Keeper Dakota Penquite for the Wildcats stopped 15 and only allowed one which was enough for Georgetown to seal their victory. Defensively, Eli McEntire, Wesley Mitchell, Brant Bandow, and Lane Heeg played at the top of their game. Blanchester will next host Fayetteville on Saturday at Barbour Memorial Field. -Coach Ballinger
10/4/16 - Boys Soccer vs. Bethel Tate The Blanchester Wildcats traveled to Bethel-Tate Tuesday night to face off with the unbeaten Tigers. Blanchester had the edge during the first half scoring off of a throw-in from Brant Bandow to Topher Farrow who headed the ball into the back of the net. During the second half Blanchester fought tough but couldn't maintain their lead and gave up two goals in similar fashion while trying to clear the ball from their own box. Despite the defense allowing two goals, goalkeeper Dakota Penquite once again made a slew of saves totaling up to 20. Blanchester travels again tomorrow evening to Georgetown hoping to rectify a tie from their last encounter. -Coach Ballinger
9/26/16 - Boys soccer vs. CNE The Blanchester Wildcats men's soccer team traveled to CNE to take on the Rockets in league play on Tuesday. The Wildcats started off strong with a goal by Sam Schafer off of a corner kick from Nevan Coyle. Not long after, Topher Farrow drilled the ball into the right hand side of the net from 20 yards out. Farrow scored for a second time before half with a header off of a head volley from Cameron Skidmore. Schafer scored two more times in the second half to complete the hat-trick with assists coming from Noah Armocida and Farrow who gave a scorpion style back heel pass. The Wildcats took 31 shots and allowed only six on goal, all of which keeper Dakota Penquite handled near effortlessly. The win over the Rockets puts Blanchester at 5-1-1 in league play. The Wildcats will host Williamsburg on Thursday. -Coach Ballinger
9/22/16 - Boys Soccer vs. Felicity The Blanchester Wildcats men's soccer team broke a three game losing streak after a 5-0 victory against the Cardinals of Felicity Thursday evening at Barbour Memorial field. Scoring in the first two minutes was Noah Armocida with a double assist from Nevan Coyle and Sam Schafer. Brant Bandow later connected with Topher Farrow off a throw-in that Farrow headed into the net. Nevan Coyle added two goals weaving between the defense with an assist from Schafer. The last goal for Blanchester went to freshman Tanner Kellerman who took advantage of a Cardinal deflection in the backfield and sent it flying into the back of the net. The Wildcats offense took 40 shots, while goalkeepers Dakota Penquite and Wesley Mitchell shared 3 saves and a shut-out. A revitalized Blanchester travels to CNE on Tuesday for more league play.-Coach Ballinger
9/20/16 - Boys Soccer vs. Norwood The Blanchester men's soccer team suffered a loss in a one-sided match against the Norwood Indians at Shea Stadium Tuesday evening. Unable to maintain much possession, the Wildcats gave up 3 goals in the first half and 2 in the second. Goalkeeper Dakota Penquite managed to stop 20 relentless shots on goal during the match. Lane Heeg replaced Penquite with ten minutes left in the second half in an effort to generate some offense and made 5 saves himself. The Wildcats are now 3-4-1 and will resume league play starting Thursday when they host the Felicity-Franklin Cardinals. -Coach Ballinger
9/15/16 - Boys Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats men's soccer team hosted the Batavia Bulldogs Thursday evening at Barbour Memorial field. Despite being down 0-1 at halftime, the Wildcats started off the second half with a goal to tie the game up. Topher Farrow scored their goal off of a free kick just outside the 18 yard box. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, Batavia put in a second goal to regain the lead after two back-to-back blocks by keeper Dakota Penquite. Blanchester's defense couldn't close the gap to keep the ball out of the box. Penquite had 18 saves on the night. The Wildcats are now 3-3-1 and will be on the road next week to face the Indians of Norwood. -Coach Ballinger
9/8/16 - Boys Soccer Despite an amazing display of defense, the Blanchester Wildcats couldn't hold off the attacking Lions from New Richmond Thursday evening at Barbour Memorial field. Keeper Dakota Penquite for the Wildcats racked up 26 saves to keep the score low enough for Blanchester's offense to try to make some movement down field. Ultimately, Blanchester allowed two of the Lions' shots to find the back of the net without able to match any with their own. The Wildcats get a week to prepare for the Batavia Bulldogs next Thursday. -Coach Ballinger
9/6/16 - Boys Soccer vs. Georgetown The Blanchester Wildcats wrapped up their first round of league play with a 0-0 tie against The Georgetown G-Men Tuesday evening at Barbour Memorial field. The Wildcats are 3-1-1 overall and have struggled the last two games to find the net for a goal. Defensively tonight Blanchester's keeper Dakota Penquite managed 12 saves. Their offense took 15 shots, 9 on goal, to pressure Georgetown but still came up empty. The Wildcats will host New Richmond on Thursday. -Coach Ballinger
9/1/16 - Boys Soccer The Blanchester Men's soccer team suffered it's first loss of season against an evenly matched Bethel Tate squad. The teams played to a scoreless first half. Blanchester goalkeeper, Dakota Penquite made a couple of outstanding saves to keep the game in check until Bethel Tate scored off a corner kick that bounced around in the box and eventually off the right post for the score with 15 minutes to go in the game. Penquite ended the game with 18 saves. Blanchester had their opportunities at the end of the game but could not find the back of the net. Blanchester is now 3-1 on the season. They are back in action on Tuesday at home against Georgetown -Coach Jeff Penquite
8/29/16 - Boys soccer vs. Williamsburg The Blanchester Wildcats visited the Williamsburg Wildcats in SBAAC League action Tuesday night. The Blanchester Wildcats came away with a 2-0 victory. Goals were scored by Nevan Coyle on an assist from Sam Schafer and by Jacob Burden on an assist from Coyle. Dakota Penquite and Wesley Mitchell combined for the first shutout of the season for the Blanchester squad. Penquite had 8 saves on the night and Mitchell had 1 save. Blanchester is 3-0 on the season. Blanchester hosts Bethel Tate on Thursday night at 5:00pm at Barbour Memorial Field. -Coach Jeff Penquite
8/25/16 - Boys Soccer vs. CNE The Blanchester Wildcats played their home opener at Barbour Memorial Field Thursday evening against the Clermont Northeastern Rockets. Despite possessing the ball for the majority of the first half the score was tied at 1-1. Jacob Burden was tripped from behind on a breakaway in the box and Nevan Coyle netted the penalty kick to give Blanchester the lead at the time. CNE answered back later in the half with a ball to the corner just out of reach. The Wildcats came out firing at the goal from every angle unable to keep it away from the keeper until about 20 shots later into the second half when Dakota Penquite set up Burden for a goal to give the Wildcats the edge. Not too long after, Penquite assisted Sam Schafer for their third and final goal sealing their 3-1 victory over the Rockets. Blanchester's backfield held strong the second half allowing minimal attempts while Blan's offense maintained the heavy attack. While in goal Penquite had five saves during the first half and Wesley Mitchell had two during the second. The Wildcats improve to 2-0 overall, both wins conference matches. They travel to face the Wildcats of Williamsburg Tuesday for more league play.-Coach Ballinger
