10/21/15 - Boys Soccer The Blanchester Men's soccer team extend their season after a first round sectional tournament win over the Western Brown Broncos Wednesday evening at Barbour Memorial field. The Wildcats allowed an early goal in the opening minutes but didn't let the Broncos put another in for the rest of the match. Blanchester keeper Dakota Penquite made 22 saves on the evening fueling the team with excitement and the ability to overcome the early deficit. Goals for the Wildcats were scored by captain Logan Swinderman, captain Dade Coyle, Topher Farrow, and Sam Schafer with two. Assists were provided by Jacob Burden and Schafer. The 5-1 victory advances Blanchester to the next round against top-seeded Archbishop McNicholas on Saturday. -Coach Ballinger
10/15/15 - Boys Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats finished their regular season with a record of 13-1-2 after winning a 9-0 shutout against the Goshen Warriors. Goals for the Wildcats were netted by Logan Swinderman (3), Sam Schafer (2), Topher Farrow (2), Dade Coyle, and Dakota Penquite. Assists were given by Coyle (3), Schafer, Swinderman, and Nevan Coyle. Blanchester will host the Western Brown Broncos Wednesday evening at 7:00pm for tournament play.
10/6/15 - Boys Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats hosted the Bethel-Tate Tigers for league play Tuesday evening at Barber Memorial Field. This is the first time the two teams have faced-off since they tied early in the season. Both teams were looking to prove that they belonged at the top of the National Division rankings and after a grueling 80 minutes Blanchester did just that. With a final score of 2-1, Blanchester has nearly solidified a league title with two matches left, against opponents that have yet to score on the Wildcats this season. The Tigers didn't go down without fighting, making Keeper Dakota Penquite for the Wildcats make an impressive 18 saves, allowing only a single goal. Scoring for Blanchester was Sam Schafer with both goals, minutes apart, giving them the confidence they needed to maintain the lead throughout the second half. Assists came from senior captains Logan Swinderman and Dade Coyle. Blanchester will host Georgetown on Thursday as well as honor their seniors as they bring this chapter of their successful soccer career to a close. Tuesday night's victory brings the Wildcats to a 7-0-1 league record and 10-1-2 overall.-Coach Ballinger
9/28/15 - Boys Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats improved their record to 8-1-2 with a league victory over the Clermont Northeastern Rockets Monday evening at Barber Memorial Field. Setting the pace early for the Wildcats was a successful penalty kick by Dade Coyle. Logan Swinderman also added two goals in the first half of play, both coming off double assists from Coyle to Topher Farrow to Swinderman in rapid succession. Blanchester let up a goal later in the second half but Brendan Daugherty answered back with a long shot to the corner of the goal from outside the 18 yard box. Keeper Dakota Penquite racked up 8 saves with a few jaw-dropping feats. With a 4-1 win, the Wildcats sit alone, undefeated in league play at the top of their conference. They travel to Williamsburg on Thursday. -Troy Ballinger
9/24/ - Boys Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats hosted the Felicity Franklin Cardinals Thursday evening and earned their third win of the week. This win didn't come easy though, after a 4-1 first half by the Wildcats, the Cardinals outscored them 4-2. With a 6-5 final in favor of Blanchester, the Wildcats continue their unbeaten league standing. Even with defensive struggles Blanchester was in control for most of the match. Captain Logan Swinderman scored four of Blanchester's six, leaving the Coyle brothers, Dade and Nevan, with the remaining two. Assists for the evening came by Sam Schafer, Dade Coyle, and Topher Farrow. Blanchester will resume league play on Monday against CNE at Barber Memorial Field.-Coach Ballinger
9/17/15 - Boys Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats had a disappointing home opener suffering their first loss of the season to the Batavia Bulldogs. Both squads were scoreless at halftime with few solid opportunities to gain the upper hand. After Blanchester let up their first goal it was hard for them to get back in the game. They still pieced together some strong attacks but never found the back of the net. Despite their best efforts, Blanchester's defense and Keeper Dakota Penquite, who had 13 saves, couldn't fend off the Bulldogs with a final of 4-0. The Wildcats are still tied with Bethel-Tate for control of the league. Blanchester will travel to Leesburg on Monday. -Coach Ballinger
9/15/15 - Boys Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats triumphed over the Fayetteville Rockets, 4-2, Tuesday evening on the road. Blanchester allowed an early goal to put them behind but held their composure to answer back with numerous offensive attacks. Later in the half Wildcat's Logan Swinderman was fouled in the box and captain Dade Coyle took the kick for a goal. Almost immediately after Blanchester was called for a foul in the box as well, giving the Rockets an attempt at another score that was successful. This was only the second and third time Blanchester has not held a lead this season. Just before halftime Swinderman received a pass from Topher Farrow that he took advantage of and tied it up once again. With more focus and determination, Blanchester came out strong in the second half and wasn't willing to lay down. Sam Schafer sent a cross to Farrow to add the third goal and then Nevan Coyle found Swinderman off of a corner kick who headed the ball into the corner for their fourth. Keeper Dakota Penquite deterred many attacks from the Rockets notching 13 saves. Blanchester keeps their undefeated title with an overall record of 4-0-2. They will host Batavia Thursday evening in hopes to keep their streak alive. -Troy Ballinger
9/22 - Boys Varsity Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats hosted the Norwood Indians Tuesday evening at Barber Memorial Field. Blanchester got out to an early lead with two goals by Logan Swinderman and another by Dade Coyle. After the half, Norwood took advantage of a penalty kick awarded to them after Blanchester made an aggressive defensive play in the box. The Wildcats answered back with numerous shots on goal with three more finding the back of the net. Swinderman added his third for the hat-trick, Coyle put in another off a double assist from Sam Schafer and Nevan Coyle, and Schafer finished off his own as well. Other assists for the Wildcats were made by Swinderman, Schafer, Daulton Stevens, and Brendan Daugherty. Keeper Dakota Penquite made 10 saves for Blanchester and started many of the Wildcats' attacks by driving punts way into the Indians backfield. With a final score of 6-1, Blanchester is still sharing the league lead with Bethel-Tate and an overall record of 6-1-2. The Wildcats will host Felicity on Thursday -Coach Ballinger
9/21/15-Boys Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats earned a 7-1 victory on the road against the Leesburg Lions Monday evening. All goals were scored in the first half of play while Blanchester dominated ball control through both halves. Goals netted for Blanchester came by Logan Swinderman, Dade Coyle, and Topher Farrow all with two each, and Sam Schafer adding one. Assists were well-placed by Jacob Burden and Schafer with two each, as well as Nevan Coyle, Dade Coyle, and Swinderman. Keeper for the Wildcats, Dakota Penquite, didn't see much action with only a few touches thanks to the defense led by Daulton Stevens and Eli McEntire. Blanchester will host Norwood on Tuesday and Felicity on Thursday.-Coach Ballinger
9/8/ Boys Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats finished off the Georgetown G Men 4-0 Tuesday night at Brian Grant Stadium in league play. This puts the Wildcats at 3-0-1 in league standings right along with The Tigers of Bethel. Captain Logan Swinderman recorded a hat-trick with his first strike before a minute ticked off the clock due to a monster punt from keeper, captain, Dakota Penquite which bypassed the defense and Swinderman followed it through to the left corner of the goal. Another was the result of an exchange between Swinderman and Topher Farrow who placed it on a platter for another ball in the corner. The third goal was due to a penalty kick in the box after Swinderman was taken down from behind. The other goal for Blanchester found its way by a throw-in from Swinderman to Sam Schafer directly in front of the net. Penquite got his first shut-out of the season with 14 saves and a slew of broken up plays thwarting the attacking G Men. The Wildcats travel to New Richmond on Thursday with high expectations against the Lions. -Coach Ballinger
9/3/15 - Boys Soccer The Blanchester Wildcats were on the road to Bethel Thursday evening for a match-up against the defending league champion Tigers. Wildcats scores first off a cross from captain Logan Swinderman to Nevan Coyle who shot but was deflected to teammate Topher Farrow who drilled the ball into the back of the net. Bethel had an almost goal before time expired in the first half after they put one in due to an offsides call. After the half both squads maintained aggressive attacks on the goals and eventually Bethel drew a penalty kick giving them the tie. Keeper Dakota Penquite for Blanchester got a piece of the ball but was unable to deflect completely. As time expired both teams made final attempts to score but were unsuccessful resulting in a 1-1 tie. Both Blan and Bethel sit atop the leaderboards for now and will rematch later in the season. Blanchester will play Georgetown on the road Tuesday after Labor Day weekend. -Troy Ballinger
