5/9/15 - Baseball vs Waynesville #4 D3 state poll Lost 3-1 12-11 (9-1) We can definitely walk away this week with our heads held high. We played very good competition and competed. That's exactly what I wanted heading into the tournament. Winning or losing didn't matter to me. The goal was to get better everyday and we did that. We had quite a pitching dual tonight. Tyler Muncy went up against Ty Black who has committed to OU. Black is the best pitcher we've seen this season and Muncy matched him pitch for pitch. Their top 7 hitters were legit and Tyler never backed down. He continued to make quality pitches all night. He kept the ball down and had command of his curveball. He threw that pitch whenever he wanted and continued to put it on a dime. All their hits were singles. He didn't give them anything to drive into the gaps. That is the best I've ever seen him pitch.
5/7/15 - Varsity Baseball vs Goshen #6 D2 state poll Lost 13-8 12-10 (9-1) We jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings, but could not put them away. Our guys played hard. A few errors and a couple past balls at critical points with base runners were costly. We continue to hit the ball just fine. Hoping very soon we can put it all together and get back into a groove heading into the tournament. Taylor Greene 2-4, 3B Jared Monhollen 2-4, 3 RBI Dalton Horner 1-2, 3 BB
4/29/15 - Varsity Baseball NATIONAL DIVISION CHAMPIONS (3 peat) vs Georgetown Away Won 15-6 12-6 (9-1)
This earns us at least a share of the league title. If Williamsburg loses tomorrow against Bethel Tate we will be the out right champs. Either way this team has something to be proud of. It's hard enough to win one title, let alone three in a row. This has happened once before in school history and it was in the 70's.
This has been my favorite group to coach in my time here. Definitely not my most athletic team, but they all carry that "I don't win unless the team wins attitude." That's what makes them great.
4/27/15 - Varsity Baseball vs. Bethel Tate Won 4-3 11-5 (8-1)
Derek soared through the first six innings. His fastball looked alive and he was throwing his breaking ball for strikes. He is a tough lefty to hit when he's doing that. He retired the side in the first three innings and they didn't record their first hit until yeh fifth. Ty came in and slammed the door in the seventh with one out. Every time we get in a situation like this luckily Ty has been available. He's the guy I want with the ball when the game is on the line. He did a great job of bearing down and making his pitches. -Coach Lawson Clay Harmon 2-2, 2 2B, 2 RBI's Jared Monhollen 2-3

4/22/15 - Varsity Baseball vs. CNE Won 16-4 9-4 (6-0)
Tyler in the first and Taylor in the fourth really supplied all our offense. Both times we had bases loaded with no outs and failed to get runners home. Thank goodness both of them were able to put good swings on the ball with two outs or we would still be playing right now.
Derek threw well today for his first start of the year. He has been battling some arm troubles and we finally found a release point that works for him. The more we can run him out there the better he will get. It sure is nice to add an arm like his to our staff. -Coach Lawson

4/21/15 - Varsity Baseball vs Williamsburg Won 7-3 8-4 (5-0) What a great team win tonight. It started with Tyler out on the mound. He was in command of all his pitches tonight, and did a great job of keeping them off balance. He's so effective when he keeps the ball down. He gave up some hits but they were scattered. He never let them disrupt his rhythm. He's definitely the guy I want to be giving the ball to in such an important game like this. This was the first complete game of the season. Their was no way I was taking him out. I know how bad he wanted it. It took us a while, but finally the third time through the line up we made the proper adjustments against their starter. He did a great job of mixing up pitches too. Most of our offense came in the sixth when we batted around scored four. We had so many guys step up and come up with clutch hits. And to add an insurance run in the seventh against their reliever is what I think put it out of reach for them. -Coach Lawson Gavin Creighton 2B Taylor Greene RBI 2B Jared Monhollen RBI 1B Derek Barger RBI 1B Anthony Terrones 2 RBI 1B Tyler Muncy 2-3, RBI WINNING PITCHER Tyler Muncy 7 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 K, 6 H, 2 BB

4/11/15 - Varsity Baseball vs Batavia Won 12-4 5-1 (3-0)
This was a nice bounce back win for us after last nights tough loss. I'm glad the boys were able to put that one behind them so quickly and move forward.
Don't let the score fool you. This was a tight game until the fifth when we were able to put up six runs. We only had three hits all day. We were very disciplined at the plate and took what there pitchers gave us. They had 10 walks and 5 hit batters. Dalton Stevens came up clutch twice. In the fourth he had a 2 out 2 RBI single. In the fifth a base loaded 2 RBI single.
Jared had an exceptional outing for his first start of the year. He did exactly what is expected of him. Go out pitch to contact and let his defense play. He's not a guy that is going to blow anybody away. He knows that.

4/10/15 - Varsity Baseball vs. New Richmond Lost 3-2 in 10 innings 4-1 (3-0) We got on the board in the third when Taylor Greene busted a ball in the left center field gap for a 2 RBI double. Outside of that the only offense we could generate was getting them on and over. We had six runners on third with less than two outs and could not score in the later innings. That is why we lost this ball game. Our pitching and defense played good enough to win.
We had two strong pitching performances tonight from Alec and Tyler. Every time we got in a jam they did a great job of bearing down, keeping there pose and finishing the inning with no score. I tip my hat to both of them.
I found out a lot about my team tonight. I really think we can walk away from this saying we got better. New Richmond is a very strong team. They are well coached and fundamentally sound. They did the little things right. And we hung with them. The only thing we were missing was timely hitting. I'm ready to roll over all the positives into tomorrow and take Batavia head on. They always have a good ball club. We need to learn from tonight and be ready to play that first pitch tomorrow. - Coach Lawson
4/6/15 - Baseball vs Bethel Tate Won 16-4 - 5 innings 4-0 (3-0) Tyler sure did look sharp tonight. He was getting ahead of hitters and throwing his curveball for strikes in any count. I really was impressed, especially in the wet conditions he was pitching in.
I think this was our best hitting game. We had a few more extra base hits and the timely hitting was there. We failed to get the runs home from third with less than two outs all night, but had guys clutch up with two outs and drive runs in. There is nothing that gets an offense going more than two out RBI's. -Coach Lawson

4/1/15 - Baseball 13-12 come from behind win over CNE 3-0 (2-0)
Both teams deserved to win tonight. We know CNE has that never say die attitude and they showed that again.
It's unfortunate we wouldn't get Tyler Muncy the win tonight. He did what he was suppose to do and gave us a quality start. Pitched five complete innings and left the game with a 5-1 lead giving us a chance to win. Our bullpen simply struggled throwing strikes. We had 11 walks in the last two innings.
We had our top of the order up in the bottom of the seventh. So if we were going to come back from a 4 run deficit this was going to be our best chance. After a ground out and a strikeout looking we were down to our final out. Taylor Greene started his at bat down 0-2 and worked a full count. He ended up beating out an infield single down the third base line. Monhollen drew a walk and Muncy followed with a RBI single. Terrones walked to load the bases. With the tying run on first I pinch ran Daulton Stevens who has real good speed. Next batter Nelson got HBP moving the tying run up to second. On a 2-2 pitch Stevens laced a single up the middle just out of the reach of a diving short stop and scored the tying and winning runs.
I am so proud of our guys. It would have been so easy to give up in the sixth inning or even with two outs in the seventh. We just kept getting the next guy to the plate. And that's all you can do in a situation like that. The game winning hit couldn't happen to a better kid. Give me 15 Daulton Stevens and I will go to war with anybody. I'm really happen for him. It's hard to believe we did not have an error tonight. Tyler Muncy earned the Cincinnati Reds Showcase Skyline Chili Player of the game. He contributed so much on the mound and at the plate. He pitched five complete innings, made a diving catch on a pop up bunt in the first and a back hand on a bunt in the third. Also, 2-3 from the plate with 2 RBI's. There is no doubt he is deserving of this award tonight. Congratulations to him.

3/31/15 - Baseball @ Hillsboro Won 11-3 We didn't have a lot of hits tonight (6) but we did a great job of putting the ball in play with authority and making things happen. Alec pitched an absolute gem. He got ahead of the hitters and pounded the zone with all his pitches. He will be very effective this year if he is capable of doing that. Conan did a great job of coming in the last two innings and throwing strikes. Gavin Creighton 2B, RBI Taylor Greene 3-5 2 2B, RBI Jared Monhollen 1-2, 2 RBI
3/30/15-Baseball Won 17-3 5 innings 1-0 (1-0) We came out ready to play today. We hit the baseball up and down the line up and when we made outs they were productive. Also, had three consecutive 2 out hits that lead to five runs. Blake did a great job of coming in and chewing up some innings for us. We have three more games this week. Two of which are important league games. Having that guy you can go to that you know will throw strikes and get outs is important. Tomorrow will be a good test for us. Hillsboro is always strong.
