10/11 HSVB Sectional round one
The Blanchester Varsity volleyball team beat Batavia in 4 sets during the sectional tournament on Saturday. The scores of the sets were:
25-7, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18
The Lady Cats came out ready to play Saturday evening for the first round of the sectional tournament. We had a strong first set, beating the lady Bulldogs 25-7. During the second set, the Bulldogs cleaned up their mistakes and came back stronger, but we held on and took the set 25-21. In the third, our defense was on their heels and let the Lady Bulldogs take control early in the set. It ended up being a close one, losing 24-26. We finished strong in the fifth, winning the last set of the match 25-18. Senior Cierra White led the Lady Cats. She had 32 total attacks, with a season high of 11 kills and only 2 kill errors. She also led on Defense with 15 digs, 42 good passes, and only 2 passing errors. Sarah Burton also played the net well, blocking the Bulldogs 4 times and getting 5 kills. Overall, our team’s offense was on point with 22 kills and only 5 errors. With the Lady Cats first tournament win in 4 seasons, we move on to play the number 1 seed Wyoming Tuesday night at 7:30pm. - Coach Doughman

The Blanchester Varsity volleyball team beat Georgetown in 3 sets. The scores were 25-22, 25-20, 25-11 The Lady Cats played for their seniors Thursday night against Georgetown. Our seniors led us to victory in 3 sets. Cierra White led the Cats with 10 kills. Kayla Lindsey led with 14 service points, 3 aces and Savannah Miller had a nice game with 3 kills and a block. During the last set we were up 16-4, so our three senior were subbed out and the underclassmen took over. Shayla Sicurella came in off the bench and went on 3 point service streak with an ace. She also had 4 digs. Overall, it was a good win for our seniors during their last regular season home match. Blanchester played another exciting match against Felicity tonight at home. Last time we played we were matched up well and ended up going to 5 sets, but came home with a loss despite our hard work. Tonight's game was just as thrilling as when we met earlier this season. Rachael Doyle came in off the bench in an effort to stop Felicity’s OH Bethany Perkins and the rest of their offense in the last two sets. She did her job well, blocking them 5 times. Sarah Burton also attempted to shut down Felicity’s offense by blocking them another 5 times throughout the match. We fought hard during the last set and beat the Cardinals 16-14. The Lady Cats are now 8-8 overall and 3-3 in the league.

Allie Evan put up 15 digs and Sarah Burton had a few good blocks in an attempt to hold the Spartans back. Offensively, Sarah Burton led with 6 kills. Shelbie Rose came off the bench and played well for the Ladycats with 4 assists and 9 service points. The lady cats are now 7-8.

Allie Evans kept us in position to hit with 35 perfect passes to the setters, and Kayla Dugger kept the bulldogs on their heels by putting the ball in smart spots.

The lady cats stayed focused and ready to play in the 5th to take the set 15-10. Overall, allie evans held us together on defense with 35 digs and 39 perfect passes. The lady cats played well together in the first set to hold Fairfield under ten. Sarah Burton played the net well offensively by getting 6 kills and converting 2 blocked attempts into kills. Cierra White went on an eleven serve streak, which held the Lions to the low score. Freshmen Shelbie Rose and Cheyenne Brown came off the bench ready to play in the second two sets. Despite the disrupted chemistry from having some players come in off the bench, we played together and came out with a win in the end. The lady cats are now 3-4

The lady cats played well together in the first set to hold Fairfield under ten. Sarah Burton played the net well offensively by getting 6 kills and converting 2 blocked attempts into kills. Cierra White went on an eleven serve streak, which held the Lions to the low score. Freshmen Shelbie Rose and Cheyenne Brown came off the bench ready to play in the second two sets. Despite the disrupted chemistry from having some players come in off the bench, we played together and came out with a win in the end. The lady cats are now 3-4

We played hard as a team against the Lady G-men. The two teams were very evenly matched, but our smart plays and will to win kept us on top. Hannah Wisniewski had an impressive game offensively with 6 kills and only 1 error. She also assisted 9 other kills. Allie Evans and Kayla Dugger had good defensive games, combining for 34 digs. Kayla Lindsey’s serves were clutch in important game situations. The Ladycats as a whole played a quality match.
