10/13 Boys Sectional Soccer
The Blanchester Wildcats fell to Talawanda Monday evening, 6-1, in the first round of the post season. Blanchester's lone goal came of a strong foot upfield by Brant Bandow which was then redirected by Eric Hinkle to the left side of the field where Bryce Minge all-out sprinted to the ball barely beating out the last defender and sliding in to send the ball into the back of the net. Defensively, the Wildcats struggled but did make some big plays such as goalkeeper Dakota Penquite blocking a penalty kick late in the first half keeping the score 3-1 at the time. Blanchester ends the season in second place within the National Division of the Southern Buckeye Conference with a final record of 9-5-1.

The Blanchester Wildcats traveled to Bethel-Tate to face the Tigers in need of a victory in order to keep alive an attempt to share the league title. Wildcats lost 3-1 and will finish in 2nd place in the National Division. Blanchester will honor their senior class members Thursday evening as they wrap up their regular season against Georgetown.

The Blanchester Wildcats hosted Georgetown for their final match of the regular season on Thursday. Blanchester dominated the entire match but could only find the back of the net twice as well as allowing a single goal against them in the final minutes. The first was off an assist from Logan Swinderman to Dade Coyle in the early minutes of the second half fueling the Wildcats and allowing them to forget all their missed opportunities in the opening half. The second goal came from senior Dalton Horner, who unassisted launched his shot from 40 yards out over the keepers head for his first goal of his high school career. Before the match, both senior class boys and girls were honored. Along with Horner, eagerly stood Chandler Ellis, Chris Furber, Dan Peters, Eric Hinkle, Brady Wilson, and Anthony Terrones. Blanchester's soccer program was very fortunate to have had these fine, young, gentleman leading the way for the up-and-coming athletes. Blanchester will host Talawanda on Monday for their first match of the tournament.

The Blanchester Wildcats kept their chance of a league title alive with a victory over the CNE Rockets Tuesday evening while on the road. Sam Schafer scored early for the Wildcats and was assisted by Dade Coyle. The Wildcat defense ran into an unfortunate situation soon after where a deflected CNE throw in found its way into the net just out of reach of their goalkeeper. Coming out of the half strong, Coyle netted a pass from Logan Swinderman in under 30 seconds to give the Wildcats the morale boost they needed. Brendan Daugherty also scored for Blanchester off of a throw in by Eric Hinkle. The final score was 3-2 in favor of the Wildcats who have their sight set on Bethel-Tate next Tuesday for equal ownership of the league.

The Blanchester junior varsity soccer team was defeated 1-0 at Batavia on Monday evening. Both teams were attacking well and could carry the ball down the field with precision but it was the Bulldogs who managed to put in a single unanswered goal in the first half. Keeper Wesley Georges for the Wildcats managed 5 saves to keep them in the game. Blanchester will host Fenwick on Thursday.

The Blanchester Wildcats improve to 7-3 after hosting and defeating the Felicity-Franklin Cardinals for their second time this season Thursday evening. Goals scored by the Wildcats go to Logan Swinderman, Eric Hinkle, Bryce Minge, and Sam Schafer, two of which were assisted by Hinkle and another by Minge. Blanchester dominated every aspect of the game only allowing 7 shots on goal, all of which were easily secured by keeper Dakota Penquite who recorded his fifth shutout of the season. The Wildcats will travel to take on Clermont Northeastern on Tuesday.

The Blanchester Wildcats traveled to Shea Stadium and squared off against the Norwood Indians in a game of outstanding possession on both ends. The game went scoreless until late in the first half when the Indians found the net. Blanchester had a handful of missed opportunities inside the box that barely glanced out and off the posts. Norwood went on to score twice more in the last minutes of the match to a defeated squad of Wildcats with a final of 3-0. Blanchester is now 6-3 and will host their next conference match Thursday against Felicity.

Blanchester High School boys' junior varsity soccer team was in action against Norwood High School Monday night. The Blanchester wildcats defeated Norwood 5-2. Our offense was dominant providing many shot opportunities. Captain Brady Wilson led the Cats with two goals and 2 assists. Also scoring for Blanchester was sophomore Sam Schafer, freshman Topher Farrow, and Junior Jacob Brandenburg. Freshman Nevan Coyle had two assists. We played hard and with pride. The JV wildcats play again next Monday at Batavia at 7 pm

The Blanchester Wildcats pulled off a 4-0 victory on the road against Leesburg Tuesday evening improving their record to 5-2. It was an extremely aggressive game on both ends but the Wildcats were able to muscle three goals in before halftime. Eric Hinkle started the scoring with a goal off a penalty kick. Then Dade Coyle took a throw in to Hinkle who took a quick touch to Logan Swinderman who drilled the ball into the back of the net for a double-assisted goal. Hinkle struck again with a header into the upper left corner of the goal, assisted by Coyle. After the second half started, Blanchester came out strong again to a tired Leesburg defense and dominated control through the half's entirety. Hinkle netted a hat trick with the fourth and final goal for the Wildcats being assisted by Brendan Daugherty. Blanchester had an onslaught of shots by many different Wildcats that just couldn't find their way in. Defensively, keeper Dakota Penquite, along with the rest of the Wildcat defense, earned their fourth shutout nearly giving up a penalty kick at the end but the ball went wide right deflecting off the goalpost and was successfully redirected. Blanchester will travel to Bataviaon Thursday to face their former league rivals.

Our defense held strong with the exception of a few well-placed shots. Topher Farrow controlled much of the center of the field and found the back of the net once. Also scoring for Blanchester was sophomore Bryce Dickison assisted by Brady Wilson. We played well overall, but failed to capitalize on our many shot attempts. The JV wildcats play again next Monday at home against Norwood at 7 pm.

Blanchester came out sluggish after half and allowed The Lions to score early on. The Wildcats couldn't reclaim the same intensity as before and it cost them another goal. Logan Swinderman, Sam Schafer, and Dade Coyle had a few hard shots on goal for the Wildcats but never found the back of the net. Blanchester is now 4-2 overall and will travel to Fairfield Leesburg on Tuesday in hopes to regain what they lacked in New Richmond.

9.9 Boys Soccer
The Blanchester Wildcats traveled to Georgetown on Tuesday to defeat the G-Men 4-0. The first half was completely controlled by Blanchester but the offense couldn't hit their target and went scoreless. Then during the second half the Wildcats came out firing on all cylinders putting in three goals within the first twenty minutes and a fourth not far behind. Goals were scored by Logan Swinderman who hit two, Brendan Daugherty, and for his first time back since a preseason injury, Eric Hinkle. Assists went to Dade Coyle, Dan Peters, and Hinkle. Dakota Penquite earns his third shut-out with the help of the Wildcat's impenetrable defense. Blanchester moves to 4-1 overall and travels to New Richmond on Thursday. -Coach Ballinger |
