2/11/17 - MS boys bkb SBAAC Tournament
The 7th grade boys basketball team ended it's season Saturday losing to the Batavia bulldogs in the SBC tournament. Leading the wildcats were Blake Coffman & Gabe McVey with 4 points a piece, Jackson Bray & Nate Coyle both added 2, and Justin Hogsett had a free throw. Blake Coffman lead the team in rebounds with 6, Gabe McVey had 3 steals, and Kennedy Campbell had an assist. The 7th grade finished their season at 3-13. -Coach Greve
The 8th grade boys basketball team kicked off SBC North division tournament play with a 36-34 victory over Norwood. Brayden Sipple led the WIldcats with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 steals. Trenton Czaika scored 8 points and had 3 steals. Kyle Hopkins scored 3 points and had 2 assists. Logan Heitzman, Bryce Highlander and Hunter Hartmann each scored 2 points. Heitzman had 5 steals. The win improves the Wildcats to 13-3 and sets up a semifinal matchup with Mt. Orab; Tuesday at 6:15 at the Blanchester Middle School Gymnasium. -Coach Ballinger

The Blanchester seventh grade lady Wildcats ended their season with a tough lost to Norwood Monday night, 18-35 in the first round of the SBC North Division tournaments.
Maddie Creager and Zoie Stanforth led the team with five pints each, Daelyn Staehling followed with four points, and Emma Winemiller and Lacie Tedrick each had two points.
Stanforth also led the team defensively with five rebounds and two blocks. Staehling was up next with four rebounds and two blocks. Creager also had four rebounds on the defensive end. Winemiller used her quick speed to gain two steals along with her two rebounds. Aleah Wells and Paris Clagg both had one rebound while Kenzie Kratzer had one steal.
Staehling and Stanforth led the team with offensive rebounds as they had four each. Creager had two rebounds and one assist. Emma Winemiller had one assist as well. Tedrick, Kratzer, Ogden, Clagg, and Taylor Combs each had one offensive rebound.
"These girls have come so far this season. Their ball handling, layups, and composure have enhanced so much from October. This is my second year of coaching, and I have learned a lot from the seventh and eighth grade teams. I'm very blessed to have such a good group of girls. The 8th grade boys basketball team knocked off previously unbeaten Mt. Orab by a score of 59-49. A strong first quarter, capped by a Hunter Hartmann put back at the buzzer gave the Wildcats momentum and a six point lead which they never relinquished. The lead grew to twelve at the half and the Cats never let the Broncos get any closer than seven points for the remainder of the game. Brayden Sipple slammed the door on any comeback attempt, pouring in 19 of his game high 39 points in the fourth quarter. Sipple was 14 of 16 from the free throw line, grabbed 11 rebounds, had 4 steals and had 3 blocks. Trenton Cziaka scored 12 points, dished out 3 assists and played lock down defense all night. Hartmann finished with 5 points, Brody Rice added 2 points and 6 rebounds, and Logan Heitzman scored 1 point. Kyle Hopkins harassed Bronco ball handlers all game long and had 6 steals. Bryce Highlander forced numerous turnovers playing back as the last line of defense in the Wildcat press. For the game the Broncos committed 21 turnovers to only 9 for the Wildcats. The 7th grade boys basketball team lost to the CNE rockets last night 31-24. After leading 21-13 with five minutes to go in the third quarter, the Wildcats could not hold on. Leading the Wildcats was Blake Coffman with 9 points and 14 rebounds, Jackson Bray had 4 points and 5 rebounds, Justin Hogsett 4 points, Jacob Hamm 3 points, Gabe McVey has 2 points and 6 boards, Seth Akers had 2 points and 4 assists, and Brett Bandow had 3 steals. The loss drops the Wildcats to 3-9 on the season and they host the Mt. Orab broncos tomorrow. -Coach Greve

After climbing out of an early ten point deficit, the WIldcats rallied to take a three point lead with just three minutes remaining. However, the Rockets would close the game on a 7-0 run to send the Cats to defeat. Brayden Sipple led with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Trenton Cziaka added 7 points. Brody Rice scored 3 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Bryce Highlander and Hunter Hartmann each scored 2 points. Kyle Hopkins had 5 steals. The loss drops the Cats to 9-3 on the year.-Coach Ballinger

Stanforth also led the Wildcats defensively with five rebounds and one block. Staehling followed her with two rebounds and three blocks. Taylor Combs had one rebound, one steal, and two blocks; Creager had two rebound and one steal; Winemiller had one block; and Aleah Wells had one steal.

Leading the team in points was Seth Akers with 8, Blake Coffman had 6, while Jackson Bray & Justin Hogsett each added 2 each. Coffman had 7 rebounds, Hogsett & Bray both had six boards, while Brett Bandow pulled down 5. Jacob Hamm had 3 steals and Gabe McVey had 2 assists. The Wildcats forced 31 turnovers and held the Tigers to only 20% shooting (9-44) from the field. The Wildcats were led by Brayden Sipple (23 points, 16 rebounds, 12 steals, 2 assists, 3 blocks) who recorded his first triple double of the season. Brody Rice added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Logan Heitzman added 4 points, Trenton Czaika and Hunter Hartmann both scored 3 points and Brady Phillips chipped in with 2 points. Kyle Hopkins had 3 assists. Leading the Wildcats with a double double was Blake Coffman with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Seth Akers added 11 points and 4 assists, Gabe McVey had 5 points and 6 rebounds, Jacob added 3 points and 6 steals. Rounding out the scoring were Bryce Bandow, Jackson Bray and Justin Hogsett all with 2 points each. The win raises the 7th grade team record to 3-6.-Coach Greve

The Blanchester 7th grade girls' basketball team got their first win of the season Monday night out scoring the Amelia Barrons 17-15 in overtime.
Gracie Irwin lead the team with 6 points, followed by Maddie Creager who had 5 points. Emma Winemiller and Lacie Tedrick both had 2 points in the game to tie the Barrons at 15 points each. Daelyn Staehling finished it off with her 2 points in overtime.

8th grade boys 34-30
The Blanchester 8th grade boys basketball team opened their season with a 34-30 win over Amelia. A big game from Brayden Sipple (15 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 7 steals and 3 blocks) pushed the Wildcats to victory. Also scoring were Logan Heitzman (6 points), Kyle Hopkins (5 points), Hunter Hartmann (3 points), Javen Meadows (3 points) and Brody Rice (2 points). Rice grabbed 6 rebounds. Rice and Bryce Highlander each dished out 2 assists.-Coach Ballinger
7th grade girls 17-15
The Blanchester 7th grade girls' basketball team got their first win of the season Monday night out scoring the Amelia Barrons 17-15 in overtime.
Gracie Irwin lead the team with 6 points, followed by Maddie Creager who had 5 points. Emma Winemiller and Lacie Tedrick both had 2 points in the game to tie the Barrons at 15 points each. Daelyn Staehling finished it off with her 2 points in overtime.
Staehling led the team in rebounds with 4 on offense and 5 on defense. Following her was Creager with 2 offensive and 3 defensive. Rianna Mueller had 2 defensive rebounds, Irwin had 1 defensive rebound, and Taylor Combs had 1 offensive and defensive rebounds.
The Wildcats racked up steals during the game. Tedrick had 2 while Irwin and Winemiller both had 1. -Coach B Cook

The Blanchester 8th grade girls basketball won Monday against Amelia, 38-2. Casey Kingsland and Lana Roy led the Ladycats with 11 points each. Maddie Pohlman had 6 points, Noelani Tangonan and Caili Baumann both had 4 points. Madison Wells added 2 points.
Casey showed strong defense with 7 steals, 2 blocks and added 5 rebounds. Lana played strong with 5 steals and 2 rebounds. Caili had 7 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals. Noe had 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Becca Kratzer contributed with 2 assists and 2 steals. Madison Wells added 3 rebounds and a block.-Coach Kingsland

The 7th grade girls basketball team started their first game of the season strong, however fell to Norwood in the second half with the final score 8-23.
Leading the Wildcats was Gracie Irwin with four points. Following her was Madison Ogden with two points and two offensive rebounds. Maddie Creager and Zoie Stanforth each had one free throw and one offensive rebound to assist the Wildcats.
Daelyn Staehling played great on defense with five defensive rebounds and one block. Stanforth also had a block along with one offensive rebound and one defensive rebound. Also helping out defensively was Creager with three defensive rebounds and Taylor Combs with two. -Coach B Cook
